It’s that situations without regulamentation. Pratical?? YES.
But a lot of accidents every day, including FATAL. My bike is large, and I need to go very slow,I don’t want accidents,or break any car side mirror. Including my isurance cover that kind of accident. When in USA,I don’t do lane splitting,I respect your Laws, thats the right way. The great advantage of a motorcycle it’s your SIZE and yes we are fast, very fast.lane splitting is perfect with hevy traffic, but i inform you is DANGEROUS. And trucks don’t see us,it´’s the biggest danger. Please be carefull.

Your asking to get sandwiched by vehicles there . Their reasoning is if we have to sit here so do you. Also the roads are narrow in most locations. Traffic on all of LI is maximum 55 no one drives that speed it’s usually 70 plus . Police do very little they feel its going to cause more damage for a high speed chase . Theirs basically two Suffolk County Police and Nassau Police NYPD covers Brooklyn and Queens as well as Statin Island The Bronx NYCity .

My whole life. I recently moved to Oklahoma. No lane splitting here. It drives me nuts knowing that I can’t filter to the front at lights. Spend allot of time sitting when I could be going.

They can’t stand the thought of riders getting to cut in line to the front. Sadly they are the majority of voters.

Motorcycles are not designed like cars to idle endlessly in hot day traffic. I do not expect any automobile driver to see me and unfortunately I have to apologize for about 50% of motorcyclists who ride and behave the way they do. Of course non riders from other states think I’m crazy for doing something they have no understanding. In the not too distant future you will be considered crazy to pilot your own vehicle somewhere vs letting an autonomous car do it for you!

I’ve had a couple people yell out their windows at me.

Sorry, I’m not going to move at 3mph when I’m small enough to keep moving.

I’ve never, we’ve had an issue. It’s safe when riders and car drivers have mutual respect for each other and the law. Drivers in California are most aware of motorcycle lane splitting. The other stated will too. I live in Texas now where you can’t lane split (statistically shown to be safer) BUT you can ride without a helmet which is insane!

May as well be in a car and become part of the problem.
